    I thought I would receive special treatment but the rude staff nearly ruined my stay. After waiting an eternity during check-in, I also asked for a late checkout, only to be met with absolute rudeness. For nearly $800 I expected at least a complimentary gesture, but apparently that's too much to ask for here.

    We ate in the super restaurant for breakfast and dinner which was well priced. The location was marvellous and fantastic, within walking distance to the movies and pubs.

    The staff could not have done more to assist us. True Kiwi welcome and the hotel was certainly of a good standard. Afterr the debacle of Rotorua this was an excellent tonic. Thank you to the Crown Hotel

    Fantastic escape to unwind by the tranquil beach, and enjoy beautiful walking paths nearby.

    Everthing other than the breakfast.

    Cooked breakfast was not of good standard .poached eggs not soft ,toast was soggy, a lot of bacon but was greasy.

    The hotel had a central location and it was not too far from Knox Church. The property was set in a lovely area. The restaurant here was awesome for breakfast and dinner, we both ordered hot dishes. Really enjoyed a clean bathroom.

    Strongly recommend for a weekend stopover

    Comfy bed, modern bathroom, and free wi-fi in rooms helped make my stay enjoyable as I was able to easily explore the nearby area with convenient beach access.

    Everything was up to par.

    Spacious rooms and friendly staff.

    On arrival they had only allocated 1 room for us instead of 2 (booking had been confirmed as 2 x 2 bedroom suites) and they were fully booked. Fortunately they had an apartment available, the apartment was a big upgrade however they were obligated to accommodate us. The on site manager said that we could have the apartment but had to pay $40.00 extra per night. We did so as there was no other appropriate accommodation available in the area, however I do have an issue with the fact that it was their fault but it cost me extra. The front desk staff were very apologetic and kind. I personally thought it was a very bad decision on the Managers part. The apartment is right next to a pub which was very noisy on the Friday night, otherwise it was lovely.

    We loved everything about this hotel. A highlight was the balcony with views over the Pacific. The bed was very comfy too and had luxurious linen. Only a minute to stroll to the beach. Perfect!
